Dare 2 Wear was born in 2003. Originally the shop started as a small family business, by Sharon and Wesley Looy. After some years, Sharon became the only owner of the shop. The inside of the shop has been renovated and always kept its authentic warm and ethnic feel. It’s a small and personal space in the nicest area of Amsterdam, de Jordaan.
This shop is famous not only in Amsterdam but on an international level as well.
She opened our sister store CLASSIC ink&mods, Amsterdam in 2008, which is situated on Rokin, the red carpet, most famous and beautiful street of Amsterdam.
And in 2016 Sharon and her husband Duncan became the owner of Inkstitution (tattoo) and Classic Glamour (piercing) in Rotterdam.
High quality and best service have always been her motto and to compliment her love for jewelry, she decided to become a jewelry maker. Since then, Classic Gold Amsterdam started creating beautiful handmade designs.
We like to show our love for various cultures, by using their ways of body adornment and -modification, in a mix with our and other cultures.
ABOUT Sharon Looy, owner of Dare 2 Wear
Jewelry has always been a necessary decoration for me. Since I’ve been raised in a jewelry shop, it has been normal from my baby days on to wear jewelry. Ever since I found out about facial- and body piercing, around 1984. I’ve pierced myself numerous times but didn’t realize the risks involved because I was still a child. I started learning how to pierce professionally in 1996 by an experienced and serious American piercer, who came from Body Manipulations (the first piercing shop in the Netherlands). During the years, I did many guestpots abroad to learn other ways and was also trained in doing modification, including scarification, beading, cutting etc.
Keeping myself skillful by attending seminars from the APP, the Association of Professional Piercing. This is where doctors and other highly educated people speak about piercing and the body. And attending many gatherings of body suspensions, scarification (Scarwars Seattle) etc. Fun fact is that I was the 1st person in Holland having a tonguesplit ☺
I consider myself a responsible and serious person and adore adornments. Including scarification, beading and other body modification. I appreciate the ritual feel and the healing that can occur. Going inwards and adorning yourself at the same time can be magical.
Five years of Dare 2 Wear passed and in 2008 I was so happy to open my 2nd shop CLASSIC ink&mods in Amsterdam. This shop offers tattoos, piercings and body mods. And Together with my husband Duncan, we own Inkstitution (tattoo & piercing) and Classic Glamour (jewelry) in Rotterdam, since 2016.
After having my child in 2014 it was hard for me to work late hours and find my girl already asleep at home. This made me decide to stop piercing on a regular basis unfortunately. I already worked with other sweet and professional piercers that fit the shop standard by then and it gives them a chance to build their beautiful clientele as I did at Dare 2 Wear.
Instead of piercing I pursued my other obsession for jewelry and I have been making gold piercing jewelry with Kor since 2017.
Kor and I have known each other since 1998. Kor is a true artist who loves jewelry, metals and designing, he's extremely versatile and loves a challenge.
With our jewelry we stand for high quality, handmade, 18 carat gold pieces that will make your body and mind proud to wear.
Getting older and being a parent, made me follow my spiritual path even better and this led to my latest passion; offering spiritual gifts by Classic Circle. We now have our own webshop and we also offer our products in store at CLASSIC ink&mods and at Inkstitution.

Dare 2 Wear is and will always be my 1st baby. I enjoy the warm and friendly feel at the shop and am proud to make people happy and beautiful.
